Fathers' day secret shop

Father’s Day Secret Shop Report
A big thank you to everyone that came along to our first Father’s Day Secret Shop on the 9th June.
We hope that all the dads and grandads enjoyed opening their gifts that were so carefully chosen by the children last Sunday (and that we eased the pain of sourcing a present for some of you)!
This was a new event for us, which we decided to run after it was so widely supported during the recent Friends survey. Whilst the children were in the shop choosing a gift and decorating their gift bags, grown-ups enjoyed a scone or brownie with a drink.
We had a good turnout and sold around 65 gifts. Along with the monies made from refreshments and ice lollies, we made £91.53 profit.
This isn’t a huge sum, particularly for the amount of effort and time involved, so we have agreed to revisit this next year and decide whether it is worthwhile running it again. If you have a strong feeling, either way, please let us know.
On the plus side, we do have a number of gifts left over that will be sold in the Christmas Secret Shop.
Thanks again for supporting us, and a special thanks goes out to those that helped set up and run the event, we really couldn’t do it without you.

It’s time to clear out your wardrobe!
Bag2School – Thursday 13th July
Hopefully you’ll have seen our information about Bag2School in the recent newsletter, and in previous communications.
This is another fundraising idea that we put forward in the Friends survey to gauge interest. As over 95% of you said that you would support it, we have now gone forward and set up a collection date.
About Bag2School
For those of you who don’t know about Bag2School, this is a fundraising scheme that gives 40p a kilo for any unwanted clothing or household linens.
Established in 1999, Bag2School works with schools, community groups, local councils and charities to help them raise funds from clothing donations and unwanted textiles. These donations are then sold to importers and wholesalers in Eastern and Western Europe, Africa and Asia.
Collection date
We’ll be sending home bags for you to fill around Friday 30th June, to be returned to school between drop off on the morning of Wednesday 12th July and 9am on Thursday 13th July.
Please note that there’s a short window for returning bags as there’s nowhere to store them in school.
This is a great way for you to clear out all those clothes the children have outgrown and unwanted textiles, whilst benefiting Ysgol y Llan at the same time, so please start sorting!
