Dear Parents and friends,
We would like to introduce ourselves as the new committee of the Friends of Ysgol y Llan, and to ask for your help and support as we look to raise vital funds for our children throughout the school year.
Firstly, we give huge thanks to the previous committee for all their hard work and dedication over the last few years. They have raised a significant amount of money through their fundraising efforts, which has paid for the new outdoor classroom (more news on this soon), iPads for each class and Purple Mash, to mention just a few. They have left us with very big shoes to fill, and we thank them for their advice and support.
As well as the larger investments, the fundraising raised by the Friends of Ysgol y Llan also supplements school funds in many small ways that you may not be aware of, like ice creams at the Panto, contributions to the children’s Christmas party and help towards travel costs.
We feel it’s vitally important that our children continue to benefit from these funds, which is why we have stepped forward to form a new committee. We are still finding our feet, so we ask for your patience and support as we learn the ropes over the next few months.
Chairperson: Carol Owen
Vice Chair: Vanessa Brimelow
Secretary (joint): Laura Temple & Suzi Peake
Treasurer: Kate Meredith
Year 6 reps: Michelle Griffiths & Carmel Clapson
Year 5 rep: Kate Thomas
Year 4 rep: Rachel Goddard Jones & Kinga Malek
Year 3 rep: Maria Hughes
Year 2 reps: Sharon Simon & Jenny Haskayne
Year 1 reps: Dawn Astbury & Christine Morgan
Reception reps: Sian Jones & Steph Bamford
Nursery rep: Kerry O’Connor
We have our first disco on Thursday that we hope will be well attended. Thanks to all those who have already stepped in to help, we have had limited time to organise this and without you we would be stuck (and there would be no music or chips)!
We will hold regular meetings to keep everyone informed of our plans, and any ideas for future events would be greatly appreciated. There seems to be a genuine willingness to get involved which we are very grateful for. We’re aware that there are many demands on your time, so an hour or two to run a stall or sell some raffle tickets is all we ask for.
Christmas will be our next big fundraising event, and we will be holding a meeting to plan this after half-term. Please come along if you can, we really do need your help and ideas.
Many thanks for your support.
