Estyn Inspection Highlights
Ysgol y Llan was recently inspected by Estyn, the education and training inspectorate for Wales. The inspection recognised many strengths across the school and confirmed that Ysgol y Llan provides a high-quality education within a caring and supportive environment.
Inspectors noted that pupils at Ysgol y Llan feel safe, happy and valued. The school fosters a strong sense of belonging and community, where pupils develop confidence, respect for others and positive attitudes towards their learning. Behaviour across the school is excellent and pupils show enthusiasm and pride in their work.
The inspection highlighted the school’s strong Christian ethos and close links with the local church and wider community. These partnerships contribute positively to pupils’ wellbeing and help reinforce the school’s values of faith, friendship and mutual respect.
Teaching and learning were recognised as strengths of the school. Staff provide engaging and stimulating learning experiences that motivate pupils and encourage them to take pride in their achievements. Teachers set high expectations and support pupils well so that they make strong progress as they move through the school.
Inspectors also recognised the school’s success in developing pupils’ literacy, numeracy, digital skills and Welsh language skills. Pupils communicate confidently, apply their skills effectively across the curriculum and show increasing independence in their learning.
Leadership within the school was praised for its clear vision and strong commitment to continuous improvement. Leaders and governors work closely together to evaluate the school’s work and ensure that all pupils receive the best possible opportunities.
The inspection also recognised the stimulating learning environments and outdoor spaces, which are used effectively to support pupils’ curiosity, independence and wellbeing.
Overall, the inspection confirmed that Ysgol y Llan continues to provide a nurturing, ambitious and inclusive environment where pupils thrive both academically and personally.
