Church of St Mary and St Beuno, Whitford

A little bit of history

It’s thought that a Church was founded here by St Beuno in the 7th century. The oldest written record of Widford Church is in the Domesday Book of 1086. The first stone Church at this site may have been built in that century. During the 13th century, the Church suffered war damage as the English fought the Welsh. The Church later received 13 shillings for repairs. Whitford Church may have been dedicated to St Beuno before the Normans dedicated it to St Mary. Now it’s dedicated to both saints.

Christian Values

Every half term, our school looks at a different Christian Value that we try to instil in our everyday practice. On our monthly newsletter, we make reference to these values and we ask that parents try to reinforce each value at home. This document details is a little more about each value and what you can expect us to discuss in school.

Below is a home-school document to give you some ideas on how you can help.
