Good evening all,
Apologies that it has been a while. Blogging is still new to me!
Welsh National Tests
All pupils have now taken part in the Welsh National Tests. Firstly, I would just like to say how proud I am of the children (Yrs 2 - 6) for their attitudes during the test period. All pupils tried very hard during the Procedural, Reasoning and Reading tests. Secondly, I would like to thank the staff for ensuring that the tests ran smoothly in accordance with Welsh Government guidelines, but more so, for ensuring that all of our pupils were happy, secure, and stress free during this time. Thank you! :)
Finally, I want to remind the children of something...
You are all unique and we are so proud of you for the person you are! Not everyone would have liked the tests or found them easy. Although the tests will tell the Welsh Government, teachers and parents something, they will not tell us everything about you and will certainly not tell us about all of the amazing things that you can do. We know that there is so much more to you and WE are lucky enough to see it every single day (well Mon - Fri for the staff). The tests are now over, so enjoy the rest of the week and remember that we are proud of you! You special, unique and amazing children! Mr. G
Foyer and morning routine
Thank you to everyone for your co-operation during the morning routine. With Breakfast club changing slightly, this term has been different for all of us! We hope that we can iron out any small problems and it will soon become the 'norm'. Thank you also for keeping the school foyer relatively clear in the morning - this makes such a difference. It will also encourage your children to become more independent by joining everyone else on the school playground for a prompt start to the school day.
Chester Half Marathon
Thank you so much to everyone who has sponsored me for the Chester Half Marathon. Apologies that the online fund raising page closed earlier than anticipated - this money (£105) has been banked and will join the rest of the sponsor money once it has been collected. A reminder that the money raised will be equally split between the 'Friends of the school', raising money for a new outside classroom, and Cancer Research, a charity close to my heart. If you would still like to sponsor me, there is a form in the foyer and/or in school. Alternatively, you can send in your sponsorship details/money in a clearly labelled envelope.
Attendance
You may have noticed from our newsletters that attendance is still low in comparison to similar schools. Although we went through a period of sickness in school that affected our figures, we still have a number of holiday requests that are contributing to the low attendance figure. I am aware that this is a difficult subject, but can I remind you that school attendance is vital for the school and the child. The below figure was on distributed leaflets (Flintshire Fixed Fines and Penalty Notices) and is also on the front of holiday letters
Follow the above link for further facts and figures such as the total number of non-school days (175) a year.
Attendance slips will be sent out at the end of this half term and again in your child's end of year report for you to see their actual attendance this year. Please support us in ensuring that your children attend school as much as possible.
Friends of the school meeting
A reminder that the next 'Friends of the school' meeting is this Friday 13th May at 2.30pm in the school hall. The earlier time is different from the usual evening slot to encourage more parents and staff to join us. It will be a fantastic opportunity to join us in sharing ideas and support the wonderful events that are organised by the friends. Don't be shy! For more information on our Friends, please look on their page, blog or follow this LINK.
Many thanks for your continued support.

- Under 92% attendance (Red light) - Missing more than 3 weeks of education. A serious loss of learning which is likely to have a detrimental effect on your child’s achievement and life chances.
