Good evening all
I hope to see many of you tomorrow afternoon for Class 3's assembly. Class 3 pupils have been working hard on their class assembly which they have come up with entirely by themselves. They will be sharing some interesting work in relation to their current topic 'Flow'. The assembly will begin at 2.30pm in the school hall.
Thank you to those who have returned the Breakfast Club questionnaire promptly. If you are wondering what I am on about - please check you child's bag as a letter went home on Wednesday (not the normal day for letters but I couldn't wait until Friday)!
After reading the comments that have been returned so far, it is obvious that the current service that is provided is essential for many and it is something that you do not wish to lose.
Not to embarrass anyone, but the comment "the current service is essential ... I hope the school will do all it possibly can to maintain the current offer" sums up many responses. I would therefore like to reassure those of you that are worrying, that I want to help out our parents as much as I can. If it can be funded, I would obviously prefer to keep the service running. The school (HT, Gov and staff) will always do what we can to help!
Please could I also take this opportunity to clarify some misunderstandings that some parents have had:
> if we continue with the Welsh Government 'Free Breakfast Club' initiative, this is free of charge and we can therefore not charge for breakfast as suggested;
> there are several options for Governors to consider, but any charges would be for the childcare element and not the breakfast (see comment above);
> the current 'Free Breakfast Club' initiative is provided/funded free of charge by the Welsh Government but this funding will be cut by 44% from April onwards, hence only half an hour of free service. Unfortunately, our school budget is for the education of children and is not for any childcare (before or after school).
If you would like to talk to me in person regarding any comments that you have made, please feel free to contact the office and make an appointment to see me.
Again, thank you for your continued support. We will endeavour to keep you up to date regarding this service. Please return your questionnaires tomorrow if you have not already done so!
Many thanks
Mr Griffiths
