Please read this important message from North Wales Police and help our children to stay safe online.
Thank you
Mr Griffiths

Hoffwn pe byddech  yn rhannu’r neges a’r atodiad canlynol  gyda athrawon a rhieni yn eich ysgol.

We would appreciate if you could share this message and attachment with teachers and parents in your School

Dear Head teacher

North Wales Police Cyber Crime Team are advising parents to check which Apps and Games their children have installed on their devices and who they are communicating with.

“We are seeing incidents each week where children in North Wales have been contacted via Apps and Games, accepted friend/message requests and freely engaging with people they don’t know and have never met”.

“It’s important parents know what Apps and Games their children are using, that privacy settings are in place, that the child knows how to use the App/Game safely and to feel comfortable to tell their parents about inappropriate communications”.

“Sadly, we are seeing instances of children being contacted and being requested to share nude images and videos and freely doing so.  When the incident is reported to Police and officers investigate the incident, it's not uncommon to find that the parents had no idea of what Apps/Games the child was using and who they were talking with”.

The internet is a great resource of information and can be a fun and interactive learning environment.  Following some simple steps and talking about online safety can prevent the majority of these incidents occurring.

North Wales Police have a large selection of FREE privacy safety checklists and online parental control settings guidance documents available on their website.  “We would actively encourage parents and teaching staff to invest time and help safeguard children”.

Mae Tîm Troseddau Seiber Heddlu Gogledd Cymru yn cynghori rhieni i wirio pa Apps a Gemau mae eu plant wedi gosod ar eu dyfeisiau a gyda phwy  maent yn cyfathrebu.

‘Rydym yn gweld digwyddiadau bob wythnos lle mae plant yng Ngogledd Cymru yn cael eu cysylltu trwy Apps a Gemau, ceisiadau ffrind / derbyn ffrind ac yn ymgysylltu yn rhydd â phobl nad ydynt yn eu hadnabod nac erioed wedi eu cwrdd."

"Mae'n bwysig fod  rhieni yn gwybod pa Apps a Gemau mae eu plant yn eu defnyddio, bod lleoliadau preifatrwydd yn eu lle, a bod y plentyn yn gwybod sut i ddefnyddio'r App / Gem  yn ddiogel. Dylent hefyd deimlo'n gyfforddus i ddweud wrth eu rhieni am gyfathrebu  amhriodol".

"Yn anffodus, rydym yn gweld enghreifftiau o blant sy’n dod i gysylltiad â dieithriaid sydd yn gofyn iddynt  rannu delweddau a fideos noeth ac yn gwneud hynny yn rhydd. Pan fydd y digwyddiad yn cael ei riportio  i'r Heddlu a'r  swyddogion yn ymchwilio i'r digwyddiad, nid yw'n anghyffredin i ddarganfod nad oes gan rieni syniad am yr Apps / Gemau ‘roedd y plentyn yn defnyddio a gyda phwy roeddent yn siarad ".

Mae'r rhyngrwyd yn adnodd gwych a ffynhonnell  wybodaeth a gall fod yn awyrgylch dysgu hwyliog a rhyngweithiol. Gall dilyn rhai camau syml a siarad am ddiogelwch ar-lein atal y rhan fwyaf o'r digwyddiadau hyn rhag digwydd.

Mae gan Heddlu Gogledd Cymru  ddewis eang o adnoddau a rhestrau gwirio diogelwch preifatrwydd AM DDIM a dogfennau cyfarwyddyd lleoliadau rheolaeth rhieni ar-lein sydd ar gael ar eu gwefan. "Byddem yn annog rhieni a staff addysgu i fuddsoddi amser yn helpu i ddiogelu plant".
